Rock N' Roll Mud Run - St. George

Running a mud run was a
great family first.

We'd all been eager to do one.  Manuel already had a couple under his belt and is much more of a competitor than the rest of us.  We just wanted one that was family friendly and had plenty of mud!

With the Rock N' Roll Mud Run, we got both.  This was the first Rock N' Roll Mud Run, and it allowed kids the opportunity to run through the mud, too.  After all, while adults may like -- even love -- to run through mud, kids are made for playing in the mud.

Finding a mud run that includes a run through mud for kids is a little harder than you'd think.  It is almost as though the planners are hoarding mud time for adults. "You kids get to play in mud any time you want, we adults have to plan for it."  So when we saw this one come through with a kid mud run, too, we jumped on it.

It is the first time I can remember everyone in the family waking up easily and with energy at 6:15 in the morning.

The kids ran first.  There was a big mud blast right at the beginning to remind them that this wasn't a few laps around the parking lot for Presidential Fitness back home.

Timothy took off his shoes around 1/3 of the way through.  We had been back from the Grand Canyon less than a week where he had hiked several miles without them.  A mud run isn't strictly mud though, and it wasn't as soft and squishy as he expected.

Still, everyone finished strong.  That big mud puddle at the beginning of the race ensured we all finished muddy.

None of us won the electric guitar -- which was just as well since none of can play, and there is no extra room in the car.  We did get exactly what we went out for though: great family fun!

Check out the Rock N' Roll Mud Run to learn about the mud race and see if there is one coming to your area.  You may see someone you recognize on the home page photo!
